Redbridge Easter Festival returns this year but on a smaller scale after council officers had already previously booked out Easter Monday to a local commercial market.  So for this year we are holding our event on Saturday 31st March from 12pm – 5pm.

This year our event will have a wonderful musical concert involving, Capstone Church the youth choir of Ilford High Road Baptist and their counterparts for Redeemed Christian Church of God otherwise known as Liberty Church.  Joining them will be Ilford Asian Church with a more established choir and a band of hall drummers for some high tempo Urdu worship and we will be joined by seasoned international Gospel star Noel Robinson (watch video here) Learn more about Noel Robinson (here)

During the event Diane Ofori another rising Gospel Soul sensation (click here for video of Diane) and Faisal Gill a world renowned Christian rapper will ensure the event reaches out to people with eclectic tastes. You can watch a humanitarian rap video by Faisal (here)

During the event face-painting with an Easter theme will be available and children will also be offered the opportunity of joining a free art workshop.

Wilson Chowdhry lead organiser for the event and Chairman of the British Pakistani Christian Association, said:

“This years event has been reduced and for the first time in 7 years we will not have a procession.  Even then local people can expect an exciting concert with a mix of seasoned professionals, long-standing choirs and youth choirs, who together will ensure the event is one that is current with traditional elements and of course exciting.

“Whether Christian or not people of all backgrounds are invited to join us for a celebration of the resurrection of Christ – an event which transformed the world and led to the birth of the Christian faith, which will always be a force for good in a broken world.

“There will be music and dancing in our high street this year the likes of which only an event with Jesus at the centre can generate. In Christ we find Joy – he turns our mourning into dancing and the Christians of Ilford hope to share this joy with everyone during the predicted cold Easter.

“We encourage people to get out of their homes during the chilly temperatures and warm themselves in the love of God.”

Pastor Andrew Willis, said:

“Once again churches in Ilford are coming together with several professional musicians to put on an Easter Concert in High Road Ilford, to celebrate the best news ever…

“Jesus who died for us, rose again and lives today to give forgiveness and new life!”
