BACA, a leading charity dedicated to Christian persecution relief, continues its unwavering commitment to the well-being of Suleman (16 yrs), Sonia (13 yrs), and Poonam (11 yrs), who tragically lost their parents who were raped, tortured and burned alive after a false accusation of blasphemy in 2014 (click here).

Since the tragic event, BACA has been a steadfast source of support for the siblings, offering a range of essential services, including a live-in nanny, home repairs, medical care, pest control, clothing, and vital items such as computers and beds.
The live-in nanny we provide not only attends to the children’s daily needs but also plays a vital role in their emotional healing. She reads the Bible with them, leads prayers each morning and evening, and offers a sense of stability and comfort in their lives.

Despite witnessing the unspeakable horrors of their parents’ tragic death (click here), the children have not been consumed by hatred or bitterness. Instead, they have chosen to embrace love, guided by their Christian faith. Every month, BACA ensures the family’s well-being, meets their immediate needs, and actively participates in special moments, becoming an integral part of their lives.

On November 8th, Mukhtar Masih, the children’s guardian and grandfather, contacted a BACA officer to request their presence for Sonia’s 13th birthday celebration on November 10th. He also shared the urgent need for a washing machine at home, explaining to BACA,

“We really need a washing machine at home. The children have grown, and their clothes need to be washed more often. It’s become very tiresome for them and their nanny to manage without one,” Mukhtar Masih explained to BACA.

On November 10th, the BACA team arrived at Mukhtar Masih’s home, bringing a delicious cake, chocolates, and the much-needed washing machine. Sonia was overjoyed to have a cake to celebrate her special day. She expressed her heartfelt gratitude, saying, “I am so thankful to BACA for remembering me. I’m so happy to celebrate this occasion.”

All smiles: A family delighted with their brand-new washing machine!

Since the tragic and brutal deaths of Shama and Shahzad, the British Asian Christian Association (BACA) has been unwavering in its commitment to supporting their orphaned children. We are proud to have funded a live-in nanny to care for these children, ensuring they have the emotional, physical, and spiritual support they need as they navigate their difficult circumstances.

BACA has earned the trust of the family and the wider community, and we remain the most reliable and dedicated charity assisting them. We have consistently updated our supporters on the children’s progress, and we are grateful for the outpouring of generosity that has made our continued support possible.

However, there is still much work to be done. With your continued support, we can provide the resources, care, and opportunities these children need to grow up in a safe, nurturing environment. We invite you to join us in making a lasting impact on their lives by contributing to our ongoing efforts (here).

Your donation will help us ensure that children like these receive the fair and hopeful upbringing they deserve—free from the trauma of their past and full of promise for their future.

Together, we can make a difference.

Juliet Chowdhry, Trustee for the British Asian Christian Association, said:

“The tragic murder of Shama and Shahzad still resonates deeply today. Their two older children continue to bear the emotional scars of losing their parents in such a horrific manner, haunted by memories of that fateful day. The fact that every person arrested for the mob attack and rape escaped justice only deepens the sense of injustice.

However, the presence of our live-in nanny has provided these children with much-needed care and stability. Through the education they have received, they now have opportunities to lead far more productive lives than their parents could have imagined. This, no doubt, would bring immense joy to Shama and Shahzad as they watch over their children from above, free from the chains of slavery. We hope that these children will live fruitful, fulfilling lives, embodying the resilience and spirit of their parents’ legacy.”
