Redbridge Easter Parade and Festival celebrates its 3rd Anniversary this year!  Although not normally a well celebrated in our usual spirit of enthusiasm we remind our readers that Jesus rose on the 3rd day, so for us at least this anniversary has significant value.

Support is growing for the event and for the first time ever we were invited to speak about the event at a Ilford Town Centre Churches meeting.  All the members welcomed us and Chairman of the group Reverend Ackroyd spoke extremely positively about the event. He said;

“The event is one that compliments the existing Good Friday Walk of Witness and I have enjoyed participating at previous ones.”

Revd Ackroyd has joined us at each of our last two events, and his support has always been extremely valued.  We hope that the introduction of our event before such an esteemed panel will galvanise further support and an even bigger celebration then in previous years.

This years organising panel already includes the following churches:

  • Likewise Church
  • Eden Christian Centre
  • Kingdom Ministries (Urdu Fellowship)
  • ECF Tamil Church
  • Ilford Seventh Day Adventist Church
  • Gateway Church
  • Holy Nations Church, Pimlico
The event is growing in popularity and we are always seeking further partnerships, so if your church is interested in joining, please contact Wilson Chowdhry on 020 8514 0861 or email admin@britishpakistanichristians.org

This years event will include a 1 week market Fayre in Ilford Town Centre.  The market will be interspersed by Christian stalls in what we hope will be a chance to have outreach through commerce.
The one day parade and festival will be held on Easter Monday 6th April from 12:00 – 18:00.  Events will include the following;

  • Free Bouncy Castle
  • Free Arts Workshop
  • Free Worship Music, dance and drama performances on Ilford Town Hall steps
  • Face Painting
  • Easter Egg Hunt
  • and much more.
During our Christmas Festival in 2014 (inaugural event)  churches agreed to hold a mix of secular and Christian performances.  The performances could be cultural but not promoting any other faith and we ensured that a Christian leader was at the helm of each secular performance group, to prevent anything that could cause conflict with our groups Christian principles.

The event was  a huge success and attracted many people of other faiths allowing our outreach teams, greater opportunity to have an impact.  It has not been decided this year whether or not we will be mixing secular with Christian performances at the Easter Parade, and your feedback would be appreciated.  What would you like to see please do tell?

The first time we mixed secular performances at our event.

Volunteers from the East Ilford Betterment partnership helped us steward the event.

Despite the cold attendance was extremely good.

A multicultural attendance allowed us to share the gospel widely.

Families spoke of the great joy they felt at our event.

Children brought their friends.

 People clambered to the front to see what was happening.

Diana Ofori a gospel singer from Holy Nations Church, Pimlico, belted out carols and modern worship songs.
