Several Christian families in Pakistan have benefitted from items no longer needed by our supporters in England. Two of the bags of clothing we sent during COVID-19 reached Pakistan last week just days before Christmas and we have been able to distribute them in Lahore, amongst deprived communities linked to St John’s Church.
Our helpers, first washed the clothes, than organised them by size and and then invited local families to come and take what they wanted.
There have been shoes, shirts, and trousers and much more that will ensure struggling families have much less to worry about. Many of the good quality items we sent were donated to us from the local Salvation Army (click here).
The delay in sea travel was caused by COVID -19 complications but we hope now to receive further bags in Lahore, within the coming weeks, after we sent over 20. Some of the items are toys, books, stationary and household goods and we hope they arrive before Christmas, or at least before the school calendar resumes.
There are two ways you can help us with our recycling of previously loved items. Shipping previously loved items to Pakistan, comes at a cost and you can donate by clicking (here). Alternatively you can bring old toys, books, clothes and other useful items to Clementswood Community Centre in Ilford. Drop off’s will need to be scheduled as the building is not ours. You can email admin@britishasianchristians.org or telephone us on 020 3488 5316. We also collect items form across London if you are willing to pay for fuel.
We share some images of the families being helped through your generosity.
